How can Counselling help with Trauma?
My work is trauma-informed and neurodiversity-affirming. I use an integrated blend of counselling and psychotherapy approaches tailored to each client, including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, family systems work, art and play therapy, sandplay therapy, mindfulness, and meditation.
Trauma-Informed Counselling
Trauma can affect how you feel, think, relate to others, and experience safety in your body and everyday life. You may notice anxiety, emotional overwhelm, shutdown, difficulty trusting others, relationship patterns that feel hard to change, or a sense of being disconnected from yourself.
At Mindsight Counselling and Art Therapy, trauma-informed counselling offers a gentle, respectful, and supportive space to explore these experiences at a pace that feels safe for you. The focus is on building trust, emotional safety, choice, and self-understanding, rather than pushing you to talk about anything before you feel ready.
Counselling can support you to:
understand trauma responses with compassion and without judgement
develop grounding and emotional regulation skills for daily life
reconnect with your body, emotions, values, and inner strengths
explore relationships, boundaries, and repeated patterns in a safe and supported way
use creative, art-based, or non-verbal approaches when words feel difficult or not enough
In-person and remote options
