A lemon and 3 vases

This painting is inspired by Japanese aesthetics, Wabi Sabi. Wabi Sabi is a world view which is centred on the acceptance of transience and imperfection. The central ceramic container is placed behind two other small vases. In the lower left hand side a small lemon. The plants become part of the background and foreground.
The painting is created by layers of oil paint applied to canvas board.
