My Therapeutic Approach
About
Hello, below is some information about me,
In addition to being a mother and an artist, I am a registered counsellor and art therapist with over 10 years in public and private practice in Melbourne. I have a passion for working with children and their families, where I aim to create a healing space and where I can support clients to explore and understand the experience or events that are troubling them.
My approach incorporates various modalities to fit the needs of my clients including Family Therapy, Art/Play Therapies, Meditation and Mindfulness.
I can assist with: Autism Spectrum Disorder, ADD/ADHD/ODD and Social Emotional Regulation Difficulties.
My Love of Art Inspired Me to Become a Counsellor and Art Therapist
Art has always been a big part of my life. As a child I always sketched and scribbled on endless pieces of papers. Art let me disappear into my own world of imagination and find harmony. Then when I reached adulthood, I trained as professional artist and a graphic designer in Israel.
My counselling career began when I studied Art Therapy in Melbourne to overcome my own relationships problems. Art Therapy assisted me in identifying and clarifying and resolving issues and concerns about my relationships. It was a challenging process at times, as new awareness, thoughts and feelings emerged. This eventually led to a new way of being in the world. Art therapy taught me a lot about myself and how I am with other people. For example, it helped me to be honest with what I need in relationships and to grow as a person. Later, I decided to study counselling, as I wanted to increase my skills.
My Counselling Practice Today
As a counsellor, I aim to help my clients raise their awareness and understanding where they are at in their own life journey, so they can create the changes necessary to have the life they want.
Counselling can help you identify blocks to various aspects in life and then develop healthy coping and communication skills to improve your self-esteem and confidence and lead to personal growth.
The therapy methods I use include a wide range of approaches to fit the needs of my clients including: Mindfulness, Person Centered-therapy, Gestalt Therapy, Art Therapy and Meditation.
